The Archdiocese of Chicago has removed Rev. Jose Molina from St. Francis of Assisi Parish in the Little Italy neighborhood after receiving allegations of inappropriate conduct.
In a letter to parishioners, Cardinal Blase Cupich stated that the archdiocese received reports of “improper and inappropriate conversations and communications with minors and adult women.”
Father Molina had been serving as a temporary minister at the parish since August 2025. He has been placed on administrative leave while the matter is investigated.
These types of incidents continue to challenge the Catholic Church’s credibility and highlight the need for vigilance in protecting the vulnerable. While due process is important, the Church has a clear biblical responsibility to guard its flock.
James 3:1 (KJV): “My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.”
Spiritual leaders carry a heavy accountability. Failures in this area damage not only individual victims but the faith of many. The Archdiocese says it is cooperating with the investigation and has offered support to those affected.
